I'm looking for the tenor version of Thomas G. Everett's Annotated Guide to
Bass Trombone Literature. I do not play tenor, and all of my students are
tenor trombone players, so the repertoire, especially for young players is
unknown to me. We have worked through the Standards of Excellence books
that they use in school, but now that we are finished, I'm not sure what to
give them, as they are too young to start on the Rochut book, and I'd like
to find a book that will keep them challenged yet not overwhelmed. Most of
my students are in middle school and have been playing for about a year.
Their range is about two octaves, from low F to F above Middle C. I made a
post on the OTJ Forum, but I'd like to hear from anybody what literature
they use for their young students- easy/beginner solos and etude/method
books to use after going through the books they use in school to keep their
interest going. From my point of view, I don't know of the next series of
etude books that are a stepping stone from their band books to the Rochut
book. I appreciate any feedback you can provide. Thanks!
