Bass trombonists not happy with their leadpipe should consider checking
out the Minick copies that are made by Kanstul in California and sold by
Ferguson Music in LA. I played on some original Minick pipes for years
until they wore out. I have both the L (for Legit) and the OL (for Open
Legit) and they both play very closely to what I remember from the
originals. Mostly I am using the L for all around orchestral playing on
a Bach Thayer bass.

Kanstul/Ferguson also make a short George Roberts pipe that might be
better for commercial playing, and a Minick Commercial pipe as I recall,
as well as a Bach 50 copy (which I did not like much when I tried it, it
was a different length than my factory standard pipe for some reason),
as well as tenor pipes.

To find the website search Steve Ferguson in LA.
