Ah, yes. Bob Brookmeyer's "Gloomy Sunday And Other Bright Moments" is one of
my favorites. I initially bought it for Gloomy Sunday and found many of the
other cuts to be... bright moments in jazz.
The best version of "Gloomy Sunday" is by Artie Shaw with Paula Bryne on the
vocal. Next, is Brookmeyer's version. Last, is the Billie Holiday concept in
which someone changed the lyrics at the end to make the story told by the
song to be merely a dream.
