I read several books on the subject and then started buying obviously
crunched trombones on ebay. I now own about a dozen student-level
trombones, all with good slides. And I’ve sold a bunch of trombones, as
well.

The Frankenbone I presently play was made out of three trombones, which I
bought crunched. I love it.

But I do agree with some of you. Don’t take chances. Go out and hire a
professional trombonist to play the parts that you’ve been given. By all
means, don’t try to do anything you can’t already do well. Don’t do
anything too_______ (fill in the blank). And be careful. I think your
mother said that last thing.
