[Trombone-l] Sackbut in the Bible

I'm sure Howard's right on this. Sackbut would have appeared in the King 
James Version as an error in translation.

Interestingly, Benjamin Britten takes this list of instruments literally 
when selected his forces for his piece The Burning Fiery Furnace, which uses 
an alto trombone (down to pedal D in one place). The chamber orchestra used 
is based on the "cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all
kinds of musick" list. Needless to say "all kinds of musick" gave him a lot 
of scope for percussion!
