[Trombone-l] Lassus again, what were the chances?

Hopefully we are growing in maturity, so we understand that stuff like this,
as stupid as the concepts were at the time, represent the PAST. . . it's
HISTORY, like so called Classical Music. I wonder if anyone thinks poorly
of Dvorak, because of the quasi-American Indian motifs in "The New World
Symphony"? I really don't think this is an issue, and I don't think
Fillmore should be an issue. The titling of the piece in it's originally
published form, is a bit suspect ("The 'Culled Valet to Miss Shoutin' Lisa
Trombone?" or something like that). Just as I wouldn't put a black lawn
jockey on my lawn, because I think it is in bad taste, I would minimize the
included text of background material so the obnoxious material is taken out.
After all, the music, itself is devoid of any specifics. . .it is just
organized sound.

Chris
