[Trombone-l] Lassus again, what were the chances?

Yea, it's a shame that what had once become known as "The National Anthem for Trombones" has now been perverted to a racial slur.
Just goes to show ya.....
After all these years, and all the times I've done Lassus it's still fun to play, and the crowd still seems to enjoy it. I like the idea of playing into the audience tho. I don't think we've ever done it quite that way. Nearly always sitting/standing in front. Hmm.. Wonder how we could wander into the crowd without the ensuing lawsuit...

Subject: [Trombone-l] Lassus again, what were the chances?
Last night I was relaxing watching the Astra satellite. No Guiness in
sight, but I was sipping a Jever, which is very good in the metal can but a
little skunky in the bottle.
WDR had on one of those military band extravaganzas, where a series of bands
come out and do something like a halftime show in a big arena. This one was
recorded in the Stadthalle at Bremen in 2004.
To my surprise, One of the bands did a pretty good version of Lassus, and
was very well received by the crowd. They made a real show out of it, with
the trombone players walking up into the stands, interacting with the crowd,
etc.
I didn't think I'd ever see Lassus while living in Europe. Given the times,
not sure I'd ever see it again when I return.
