A friend in Vegas has recently told me that Apple Computers was allowed to
use the Apple name (by the Beatles Apple Records, etc.) as long as they
didn't get into the music business. Apple Computers may be violating that
original agreement with the iPod, downloads, etc.
Apple Records originally had many other divisions (Apple Electronics, etc.).
The other non-music parts of Apple were shut down after a short time though.
The history of Apple is mainly a history of lawsuits almost since it all was
started by the Beatles - just read the book about the group Badfinger. I
think there may have even been a suit about McCartney's first solo album.
