Don't you think that musical training in general has that effect on a 
different level? All the mommas and daddies that go to 6th grade band 
concerts love their baby's performance while trained musicians wince.  
It can be hard to just listen to a performance  by any group, be it 
college, high school, professional, and not tear the thing apart.  I 
sometimes envy people with no musical training.
