Yeah, two big reasons that great American orchestras don't sell much
of their back catalog: (1) they'd have to pay the musicians or their
union, raising the price; and (2) even great orchestras have duds in
their back catalog (or at least recordings that don't 'sound as good'
as later recordings), and their reputation would be damaged if they
didn't foster the public perception that they've always been flawless.
