Glad to see this thread...
I tried the Euros AND the Boreus and the latter worked much better for me.
The rim is very comfortable, but I think that I could use a more defined
(but not 'sharp') high point on the rim, and a bit closer to the cup.
Ivan says that if you like the Euros (a bowl shaped cup) then you are a
'buzz' player. If you prefer the sound you get from the Bores (a funnel
shaped cup), then you are likely an 'air' player.
I am also trying the 2 std bass mpieces, the Chinook and the Karif. Same
issue with the rim...and the 3 small bore pieces. Again, the rim feels like
its angled inward, kinda cramping your chops as you ascend. Great sound,
though. I keep bringing the rim thing up b/c the trustee ears (slide
repairmen and section mates) that listen to me comment that sometimes the
sound is outright gorgeous on the G&W (Bores, for example), compared to the
Laskey 57D, and other times (same sitting) its is muddy, like a euphonium.
The Laskey remains consistent. The G&W on my best efforts is bigger and
richer than the Laskey...Ideas?

Speaking of 5G mouthpieces...
I went back through the trombone-l history and read that several people have
tried and liked G&W stainless mouthpieces.
I have just gotten a large shank Euros and tried it for a few minutes. It's
a heavy weight very similar to the 5G.
I am a 5G player, preferring gold plate, and wanted the same piece for small
and large shank (the small shank is on the way).
After I have really put these to the test, I may have some more comments,
but so far I like it.
Has anybody tried these and NOT liked them, and returned them?
BTW, Ivan is really helpful and full of info on the phone...
