Yes, I've played it and I own it. It's not very new, I've had it maybe 20 years.
The composer did it. It is VERY much the same piece although it has a different
title (concertino? I'll have to look). Same 3-mvt structure. The trombonist
has most of the same material but some goes to the trumpet. The pianist has
very much the same material too but some goes to both trumpet and trombone. All
the meter changes are identical. It's no harder, and no easier, than the
Sonatina. I prefer the piece for tbn and piano, but perhaps only because I
learned it first.
