As a sideliner, I feel compelled to jump into this discussion.

First of all, I coined an expression many years ago, "The worst thing
that ever happened to music was electricity"

Secondly, although technology may be helping the instrument makers to
produce more "accoustically perfect" horns, my favorites were made long
before today's technology.

I have horns made during the late 1800's that are a dream to play as
well as to hear. They could only have been made by craftsmen who had an
impeccable sense of sound, touch and feel.

And, I think in essence, that's exactly what Sabutin is trying to convey
in his statements. The honing of the ears to the sound you want to
produce is certainly akin to the talents of the early craftsmen.

Sincerely,

Mike Terry
