Oh, I know it’s much cooler to be anti-technology.  And it’s a great ego 
boost to be able to say that you did it all with your own senses and your 
own wits.  But we’re also talking about finding that perfection while 
playing a trombone.  You know, that new-fangled gadget invented a few 
hundred years ago, the one that has NC milled mouthpieces, silicon 
lubricated slides, tubes which are laser checked for straightness, 
centrifugally cast cross-braces, and the list goes on.

Perhaps that’s why those who contemplate perfection, aim to think of 
nothing.    Everything else, I’m afraid, has its imperfections.

For those who are anti-technology and play trombone, the only imperfection 
is that a trombone is about as high technology as a wind instrument gets.
