[Trombone-l] Theremin Redux

I remember that we had a thread going for a while about the use of the 
Theremin in various motion pictures and recordings. I just got through 
watching a really excellent DVD titled "Theremin: An Electronic Odyssey". 
The DVD was originally produced in 1993. I would like to recommend this 
program to everyone who has an interest in this fascinating instrument and 
the man who created it. Also featured, is some excellent playing by Theremin 
virtuoso Clara Rockmore, and interviews with Robert Moog, Brian Wilson, Todd 
Rundgren, and Mr. Theremin (Termen in Russian) who passed away in 1992 at 
the grand old age of 97 after many extraordinary experiences, including 
being kidnapped by the KGB and spirited off the Soviet Union, where he spent 
7 years in prison, before being allowed to work for Soviet intelligence. I 
rented this DVD from Blockbuster Online. I don't know if it is available for 
purchase or rental anywhere else. It was directed by Steven M. Martin and 
released in 1993 by MGM Home Entertainment Inc. I kept waiting for some 
mention of Paul Tanner in the movie, but it never appeared. Other than that 
it, was very complete and extremely interesting.
