Dear Eric and trombone friends:
Ed Thayer had a cataract operation in late March on
his one good eye. This caused a trauma to the eye and
there have been at least five or six operations since then.
He still has no sight in that eye and has had only dim peripheral vision in
the other eye since childhood.

There is another operation scheduled shortly, so time
will tell if or how much vision he will have. To say the
least this has been a difficult time for us. His mind is
active, his ability to visualize keeps him stimulated, but
without sight he cannot go forward with his dreams.

Aside from this eye problem, we are in a situation that
we could not predict 30 years ago when Ed started to
dedicate all his time, funds and effort to the improvement
of valves for brass instruments.
