Sadly Don Lusher passed away today. Don was one of Britain's finest
ambassadors for the trombone as well as being a great lead trombone player
both with the Ted Heath Orchestra and his own Don Lusher Orchestra. He is
internationally known by trombonists and perhaps more importantly by the man
in the street. He could be seen and heard regularly with sessions bands on
TV and Radio.
He was deeply committed to the trombone in all its aspects being a member of
Board of Advisors of the International Trombone
Association<http://www.niu.edu/acad/music/ita>and a past president of
the British Trombone Society and was a significant
influence to many jazz and straight trombonists the world over.
I'm sure there will be many tributes to Don in future days put more
eloquently than this note but having known him through the BTS I felt it
important to let you, his friends and colleagues, know of his sad passing.
