[Trombone-l] NBC Oh Holy Night free MP3

Peter,
Thanks for filling us in. I thought it was great that a network show
would take 5 mins. of it's precious +/-44 mins of air time to allow
this piece to happen and hopefully make their viewers remember. ...or
at least take notice.

Mind you, the network's goal is to make money for _the network_. But I
thought they wove this into the story-line very well. And didn't step
on it too much with kitch-ey inner dialogue.

Only way they could've made it better would've been to show a
black-screen disclaimer at the end telling people how to help. They
might have. I didn't see it, though.

Still from an orchestration standpoint, it was "Luh! Shusss!" Love
playing stuff like that. Don't get to much.

Cheers!

Studio 60 is the show. The group is a group of New Orleans musicians
organized by the Tipitina's Foundation. "On November 9-10th, foundation
Executive Director Bill Taylor traveled with this all-star ensemble to
the
Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, CA, where they performed an original
arrangement of "Oh Holy Night" for the show. Rising star Troy "Trombone
Shorty" Andrews was featured in a speaking role in a scene with show
star
Bradley Whitford."

"The Tipitina's Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has
worked
diligently to uplift the music community of New Orleans. After Hurricane
Katrina devastated the city, the Foundation responded by rebuilding New
Orleans' music culture. Initially, the Foundation addressed the
immediate
needs of our exiled musicians and allowed them to carry on with their
lives.
Now the foundation is using the legendary music club, Tipitina's
Uptown, as
the center of its relief efforts by hosting a newly-opened Music Co-op
Office that allows musicians to conduct their business activities
during the
daytime, free legal and accounting seminars, free music lessons for
music
students, regular Master Seminars, and help with housing information. An
important aspect of the rebuilding process has involved finding
replacement
instruments for both professionals and music students alike. So far the
foundation has given away over $500,000 of new instruments. Through
these
efforts, the Tipitina's Foundation is saving the musical traditions of
New
Orleans."
