Ashton,

Yes, spent nearly 6 years playing one in the Army's top touring jazz  
band.  Yamaha slides are extremely good (except for the 697).  It was  
great for me just playing 2nd & Jazz during that time.  An excellent  
all around medium-small bore horn.  However it does tend to be more  
quiet than others of the same bore.  My role changed in the band and  
had to find a more suitable horn for what I have to do now.  While  
you are searching I would recommend that you find one with the Oval- 
shaped counterweight (as opposed to the round one).  These are  
slightly older and the bells are slightly thinner solving the volume  
issue--never could figure out why they went to a heavier bell.
