[Trombone-l] Fix for noisy Bach linkage?

Amen - Oiling the valve seems a lost art.

I will also confirm the Bach socket advice from Eric - I also use Bearing grease, and it does the trick, including on my own 42B.  Adjust it right and there's rarely a problem - they can work great!
