FYI, a short but nice piece on Maynard, announcing his passing, was aired on
NPR this AM. The audio will be available tomorrow morning in the 'archives
section' (there's a 24 hr delay). They had a short blurb i-view w/Maynard. I
found it reflected well on the man.

Dear list,

I found this posted on the new trombone website, www.trombonesOnline.com.

Maynard passed away late last night in a Canadian hospital.

Maynard's daughter told my good friend, trumpeter John Branzer, that he
passed away quickly from liver and related ailments.

Maynard Ferguson 5/4/28 - 8/23/06
After recently completing a new live recording and closing out his amazing
performing career with a historic run at Birdland last month in NYC, Maynard
Ferguson passed away peacefully in Canada Wednesday evening.

A sad day for us all.
