[Trombone-l] Acoustic vs electric bass

I heard virtuoso playing on both instruments. Jaco Pastorious comes to mind
on the electric, and the late Neils Henning Orsted Pederson comes to mind on
acoustic. I agree with Jeff.
On a similar note, at my church gig, ever so often I am asked to play
keyboard, which I despise. The reason for this is because I grew up learning
to play an acoustic piano, and I got to thinking about this more, and the
fact of the matter is that instruments made out of wood (acoustic piano and
woodwinds) and metal (brasswinds) vibrate. Plastic ones don't vibrate. I've
heard the arguments about the electronic keyboards do not need to be tuned,
but frankly, I don't care. When I think about the great pianists in history,
particularly jazz, they always perform on the acoustic piano. Oscar Peterson
is an electronics nut, but to my knowledge has NEVER performed on a
keyboard.

I think you guys are missing the point, that it is the musician, not the
instrument. Electric bass players play too loud, only when they lack
musicianship, which might be all too often, but still the instrument is not
the cuplrit.
The saxophone doesn't play out of tune, the saxophone player does.
