[Trombone-l] Bach 42 mouthpiece receivers

Howard,

Welcome to the club of retread T'bonists. I started playing again after a 25
year layoff but at my age I have hesitated to get on a bicycle. I don't know
the answer to your question about Bach tapers but I play a Bach , a Shires,
and a couple of 50's vintage Kings - all small shank mpc's but all different
tapers. I have found that I can use the same mouthpiece in all of them by
wrapping the shank with a couple of turns of Teflon pipe thread tape when
necessary to eliminate the "wobble". The tape deforms easily resulting in a
good seal without the worry of deforming the lead pipe. And it costs a lot
less than a custom tapered shank!

Happy long tones!
