Good point - although the US copyright laws are very favorable to the
artist, and force the infringer to pay the artist's attorney fees
every time, without a hearing (as opposed to the discretionary process
for paying an opponent's attorney fees in some other cases), it's a
rare infringer that actually has money to pay the whole bill, even if
you (or your publisher) can find an attorney who's willing to take the
case without a retainer up front.
