[Trombone-l] Alto Trombone

Just received the Selman "Junior Alto Trombone" from GreatTunes.

I paid just south of $200, and so far I'm happy with it. Intonation
seems quite right, tho the "pedal" Eb is a mite sharp.

The horn itself has a decent 'heft', feeling like much more quality than
the price paid. None of that 'ringy' feel that some Chinese instruments
have.

Nice case, fits well, no extra sloppiness. I'd like to know what kind
of mouthpiece comes with this horn, it's COMPLETELY blank, no note of
any kind. The leadpipe fits nicely, easily removed as necessary.

A bit of work on the slide, clean the inside and outside well and you
have what looks like a pretty decent horn.

While I'm chatting about this horn, the guys at GreatTunes did a good
job of getting it here, and the buying process was painless.

All around, give 'em two pointy thumbs up for business, shipping, and
quality of merchandise.

Doubt I'll play the alto any more than the contra or soprano, but it's
nice to have that option! And now, I do.

Thanks for all the help I got on and off list in the purchase of the
Alto and the Contra both. They represented a big jump for me, but so
far I'm very happy with the contra, and will give the alto a try
tomorrow in orchestra rehearsal.

Thanks, list....
