Wait a minute, Tom.
John Williams taught at the McNeese Band Camp, Lake Charles, La., a long
time ago when I was 12-ish, and he said several things:
1. Don't be a composer, you'll starve to death.
2. Always include each instrument in the melody,
including his instrument, the french horn!
3. Keep this condensed manuscript, it'll be published one day-Castle Keep.
It became the theme for NBC's evening news the next year. My mom threw it
away.
