The best way to remove it is with a Mouthpiece Puller.  Most bandrooms,
music stores that sell band instruments, and repairmen would have one.

If the nearest one of those outlets is unavailable, you could try applying
some penetrating oil to the shank and GENTLE taps with a soft mallet at the
base of the mouthpiece shank.  Be careful, if you hit it too hard you can
create a huge repair bill for yourself and still not remove the mouthpiece!
