Greetings Dr. Taylor

My name is Brian Basik, and I am the Chairman of the Board for Haven of Hope International. As such, I wanted to make you aware of an incredible and unique opportunity we have created for college students and young professionals. We have created an internship program for female students in the mental health field (social work, psychology, or a related field) and the education field. These students will have the opportunity to live and work at our flagship home in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, for a semester or year-long term.

We are setting a new standard in orphan care by partnering with young or semi-professionals to enhance and enrich programs already established at Haven of Hope Bolivia. Interns will have direct, hands-on experience with the children and teens living at the orphanage while receiving meaningful, cross-cultural experiences in their field of study under the direct supervision of educated and well-trained staff. Students will develop their professional skills, increase their knowledge of their chosen professions in an international setting, and receive ongoing guidance, support, and coaching from professionals in their fields.
The home has served over 350 orphaned children and is considered one of Bolivia's leading and progressive orphanages. Currently, the home cares for over 35 children ages 5-21 who have experienced abuse, abandonment, and poverty, ranging in trauma histories. Over the past half-decade, the professional staff, directors, and caregivers have been extensively trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI), making Haven of Hope Bolivia one of the only trauma-informed orphanages in the country. While interning, students will receive training and exposure to trauma-informed care for children and teens, increasing their knowledge through education and practice. Each intern will also fulfill the requirements for an A2 or B1 Spanish Certification during their term. Interns will gain unmatched professional growth, language and cultural competency, support in their future goals, and will make a difference in the lives of the children at Haven of Hope.
While we accept independent interns, we are looking for colleges and universities that would like to partner with us in sending their mental health or education students to our program. In recognition of this being an introductory email, I am attaching more information about the program below. Attached you will find our internship trifold, which answers some general questions you or the student could have, but we would love to be able to talk more in-depth about the program with you.
We are excited about the ability to offer this incredible internship opportunity to students who want to partner with us in setting new standards in orphan care.
Please let me know if you are interested in offering this opportunity to your students or are interested in discussing this opportunity further.
I look forward to hearing from you,

Brian Basik
