[Degreeworks-l] FW: DW4.0.9 DegreeWorks Software Patch Available

DW 4.0.9 has been released. As you can see from the e-mail below, it was actually released on April 22, 2011, but I was so busy with the catalog at that time—nor had we upgraded to DW 4.0.7 in PROD yet—that I didn’t send a note.

From what I understand, this patch release was mainly to address various defects, but it’s also had some defects of its own, so there have been critical patches released since April 2011.  If you’re a member of The Commons, you can access info about these additional patches by following the links below.  Or you can look them up on the Customer Support Center.  Some may not apply to us depending on our system setup, but when we finally get to the point of installing this upgrade, PLEASE review the info on the critical patches.  They may require special attention at some point in the installation process:

This patch is for AIX 6.1 clients only, who are installing the DW4.0.9 update.

This defect requires that we open a Service Request to get the fix.

I’ve downloaded the technical and user guides.  The originals—with their cryptic titles—are in the following folder:
W:\Workgroups\DegreeWorks\Technical & User Guides\Z-DW4.0.9 New Files-Abbreviated File Names (xtra)

But the renamed docs can be found here:
W:\Workgroups\DegreeWorks\Technical & User Guides\Updated Tech & User Guides (DW4.0.9)

I’ve also copied an updated DW calendar to the W drive.  I haven’t had time to review the release guide that goes w/DW 4.0.9, so I don’t know the impact of all the new items.  DW 4.1.0 is the next major release planned (or minor release at they call it).  It’s tentatively scheduled for December 2011 (not summer 2011 as SGHE previously implied).

To download the defect patch, go to the SunGard Higher Education Support Center web site - https://connect.sungardhe.com/customer_support

Click on 'Documentation & Download Center', then the 'Documentation’ tab near the top.  Choose DegreeWorks from the 'Select Product' list.  Check the checkbox next to ‘DW4.0.0’ ‘Install Guide’ and ‘Release Guide’ and click the "List Files" button.

Next, click on the 'Software Downloads' tab near the top.  Choose DegreeWorks from the 'Select Product' list.  Check the checkbox next to "DW4.0.0" and click the "List Files" button.

Check the checkboxes next to the instructions and patch file, and click the 'ZIP Selected Files' button. Click on the 'Click Here to Download the ZIP File' button to download into your download area. See the Installation Instructions (DGW_Installation_Guide_DW409.pdf) for the steps to install this patch onto your server.
