Good afternoon,

I’m happy to announce that registration for National Library Legislative Day 2017 opens today on December 1, 2016. To find information about the event, to register, or to book a room in the hotel block, please visit ala.org/nlld<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.ala.org_advocacy_advleg_nlld&d=DgIGaQ&c=GTxgfYI6i4KYikqC6GK_Jzn2mYGEh-v4HEPYCyQcJzU&r=Wcw2DK1jSyYu2vW8GUrouU1_uD7H6Z7B53V5KVdtm8w&m=Dh-rMX_Dxs8Bv_DFw1KwKYnS63rssUC4PUYKqUfHh9U&s=nuvqc0n1Q_EP0mDZ6xk9K-hJWAPfdZ7sUBz2cZa8OQE&e= >.

As with previous years, National Library Legislative Day 2017 will be held at the Liaison Hotel in Washington, DC. Briefing day will take place on May 1st and delegations will go to their meetings on the Hill on May 2nd.

Unlike previous years, we will not be holding new advocate training on the Sunday before the event. Advocacy training will be included in the training offered during briefing day, so please plan your travel accordingly.

Additionally, this year, to help us cover the increasing costs associated with National Library Legislative, we’ll be raising the registration fee to $50. It will be the first of a series of registration fee increases, but we felt that it would be easier for our attendees to plan for a gradual change rather than a sudden increase.

As a reminder – when registering for the hotel block, you will only be able to register for the two days within our block if you want to receive the discount. If you need to book additional nights, please do so separately – if you try to book them all at once, the hotel system will take away the discount or say the block is full (even if it isn’t full). We are trying to work with the hotel to find a solution to this problem, but in the short term, please let your folks know.

I’ve attached the Save the Date graphic for this year. Please use it however you need in your advertising this year. I know many of you already have some idea about who will be joining your delegation for 2017, but please keep in mind that the event is open to the public and some attendees are willing to fund their own attendance. Anything you can do to advertise National Library Legislative Day will help us get the word out!

As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions,

Best,
