If you are looking for academic library experience, then this might be the position for you. We need a full-time librarian for at least 6 months beginning this January. The position will include a full load of library instruction along with regular, daily academic reference responsibilities. Please see the description below for more details.

Position: Reference Librarian – Temporary Appointment

Description: Samford University Library seeks an adjunct reference librarian to provide professional reference, instruction, and research support to Samford students, employees, and the local community. He/she also participates in other departmental tasks as required.

Qualifications: The candidate should have an MLIS or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited program, strong commitment to quality service, ability to work cooperatively with others in a flexible environment and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Candidates must be willing to support the university’s Christian mission.

Responsibilities:

·        Provides research services for all persons in the Samford community

·        Participates significantly in information literacy instruction in classroom, online, and one-to-one environments

·        Performs collection development and liaison activities as required

·        Serves on library and university committees

·        Supervises student workers as needed

·        Performs additional duties as required

·        Works night and weekend shifts as assigned



Start Date: January 2015
