AACSB International (The
Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) re-affirms
Samford’s Brock School of Business accreditation

Birmingham, Ala- Earlier this week,
AACSB International officially announced that Samford University’s Brock
School of Business has successfully maintained its accreditation for its
undergraduate, Master of Business Administration, and Master of Accountancy
degree programs.

AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business
schools. AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business
education and has been earned by less than five percent of the world’s
business schools.

“Our reaffirmation of business accreditation is a testament to our
faculty and staff who work tirelessly to help maintain the highest standards to
ensure that we offer quality curricula to our students,” said Beck A.
Taylor, dean of the Brock School of Business.

Achieving accreditation requires a process of rigorous internal and external
review, and continuous improvement efforts in order to meet the 21 standards
AACSB requires. Some of those include: a high quality teaching
environment, a commitment to continuous improvement, and curricula responsive
to the needs of business.

Samford University Provost, J. Bradley Creed, added: “An accreditation
review provides the opportunity for a school both to improve its academic
program and also demonstrate the quality of its academic program. This
was a robust and rigorous multi-year process of preparation and planning, so
the reaffirmation of accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate
Schools of Business is a testament to the quality and high academic standards
of the Brock School of Business.”

About the Brock School of Business: The renaming of the Samford
School of Business to the Brock School of Business in December 2007 was a
milestone achievement for business education at Samford, which has offered
degrees in business and commerce since 1922. In 1965, the School of
Business was established to offer both bachelor’s and master’s
degrees in business. Alabama’s first part-time master of business
administration degree program was established at Samford, and the first MBA
degrees were awarded in 1967. The master of accountancy degree was
approved in 1995. The business school was fully accredited by AACSB
International in 1999 and was reaffirmed in 2010, a recognition earned by less
than five percent of business schools worldwide.

About AACSB International AACSB International (The Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business), founded in 1916, is a membership association
of almost 1,200 educational institutions, businesses and other organizations in
74 countries and territories. AACSB’s mission is to advance quality
management education worldwide through accreditation and thought leadership.
AACSB accreditation is the mark of quality distinction most widely sought after
by business schools—less than 5% worldwide have earned the achievement.
As the leading membership and accrediting body for institutions offering
undergraduate, master’s and doctorate degrees in business and accounting,
the association also conducts a wide array of conferences and seminar programs
at locations throughout the world. AACSB’s global headquarters is located
in Tampa, Florida, USA, and its Asia headquarters is located in Singapore.
