There are some changes being implemented this summer that you should take into account before beginning your Spring semester courses as you may wish to adjust your schedule.
Similar to past summer terms there will be a number of elective offerings which should be announced by late February. The major changes that are being made affect the required core course offerings and a change in scheduling. These are explained below.
Change of Scheduling
This summer instead of one 10-week term we will offer two 5-week terms. Classes will meet twice per week, Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. In most cases classes will meet 5:30-8:30pm each evening but adjustments can be made to take account of course requirements and public holidays. The first term, Summer I will meet June 4-July 6. The second term, Summer II will meet July 9-August 10. We hope that this will offer students more options for the summer term.
Required Core Courses to be Offered During the Summer Terms
The most important change from study planning schedules previously discussed is that BUSA 533 MIS and Communication Technology will not be offered. In its place three required core courses will be offered.
In Summer I on Monday and Wednesday evenings ACCT 519 Accounting for Decision Making and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings MARK 541 Marketing Strategy will be offered.
In Summer II ECON 520 Economics for Competitive Strategy will be offered. We have not finalized the evenings when it will be offered.
Two Important Considerations
1. If you had planned to take BUSA 533 MIS and Communication Technology this summer you should consider taking it this spring if waiting to take it in the fall does not suit your schedule.
2. As we are offering ACCT 519 Accounting for Decision Making this summer it will not be offered in the fall. If you prefer to take the course in a semester you should take it this spring or wait until the spring semester in 2013. Plans for the fall include the other two required core courses being offered in the summer.
Rebekah DeBoer (726-2040) and I will be ready to answer your questions and advise you regarding options you may be considering.
