Subject: Application Information - Bulldog Investment Fund (FINC525)
Dear MBA Students,
It is that time of the year when you have the opportunity to apply for the Bulldog Investment Fund course. You can read more about it by going to http://www4.samford.edu/business/academics/bulldog-fund.php or by contacting me directly.
To successfully apply, you must do the following by Friday, October 29 at 4:00pm:
1. Complete and submit the application by carefully following the instructions on the form.
2. Attend at least one Bulldog Fund meeting for about one hour. We do this to get to know you better and to give you a sense of the course, which is quite different from others. We meet on Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 8:00pm in the Dean's Conference Room.
3. Make yourself available for an interview. We will contact you with time slots and the date of the interviews.
In this course, MBAs are comingled with undergraduates who, for the most part, have taken a general course in Investments. Generally, MBAs have very little trouble ramping up for this experience even if they haven't had a single course in investments. Of course, I'd be lying if I said it didn't help: it does. If in doubt, apply! And, if still in doubt, talk to some of the past and present fund managers who are your peers: Patrick Wells, Zach Hutcherson, and Lacey Pence.
To differentiate your receipt of graduate credit, MBAs are expected to submit a semester research project in addition to performing the normal duties of running the fund.
You will be notified of our decisions by Friday, November 5.
Students complain of spam, so this is the last advertisement that will be sent. Save this email and make a note on your calendar of the due dates. I hope you will consider joining this marvelous experience.
