Ms. Seaborn and Dr. Reburn,
My employer, Social Security Administration (SSA), Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Office of Audit (OA), is interested in possibly hiring students/graduates with high GPAs and strong analytical skills to fill potential auditor and/or program analyst positions within our Birmingham office. We are seeking students and/or graduates with an accounting major or business major—individuals with business majors must have at least 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing courses (including up to 6 hours in business law). Additionally, we are interested in students and/or graduates with a Masters in Business Administration or Masters in Accounting.
OA conducts financial and performance audits of SSA’s programs and operations and makes recommendations to ensure program objectives are achieved effectively and efficiently. Financial audits assess whether SSA’s financial statements fairly present SSA’s financial position, results of operations, and cash flow. Performance audits review the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of SSA’s programs and operations. OA also conducts shortterm management reviews and program evaluations on issues of concern to SSA, Congress, and the general public. See the link for more information on our organization – http://www.ssa.gov/oig/.
Please have interested students or graduates provide me their resume via e-mail (Neha.Smith at ssa.gov<mailto:Neha.Smith at ssa.gov>) or fax to my attention (205-801-1633). If you or any students/graduates have questions, feel free to call (205-801-1626) or e-mail me.
Thanks,
Neha
