[BusinessGrad] Message from Dean Beck Taylor

On Saturday Dean Beck Taylor requested that the following message be sent to all graduate students in the Brock School of Business.

Dear Brock School of Business students,



This morning, I was selected as the eighteenth president of Whitworth University in Spokane, WA.  I will be leaving my post as dean of the Brock School of Business after commencement on May 14 to manage the transition to Whitworth, where my responsibilities as president will begin on July 1.



It is with mixed emotions that I write this email.  On one hand, I am humbled and extremely excited about the opportunity to lead one of the country's finest Christian universities, and my family and I are looking forward to making a new home in the beautiful Inland Northwest.  But the days ahead will also be filled with sadness as I leave behind the students whom I love dearly and with whom I have labored to build a strong and more lasting foundation for the Brock School of Business.  Because of the efforts of all of you, the Brock School is positioned as one of the region's best business schools, and with the commitments of our faculty, staff, students, board, alumni and friends, the Brock School will continue its rapid accent to national prominence.



I am sure that in the days ahead I will have the opportunity to speak with many of you.  I look forward to those occasions.  Please do not hesitate to contact me, either before or after May 14.  Please call or stop by.



Dr. Jim Reburn will assume the deanship on an interim basis.  Other details related to the subsequent search for the school's next dean will be forthcoming from Samford's provost, Dr. Brad Creed.
